Museum Gift Shop

Welcome to the Fort Nisqually Living History Museum Gift Shop page!

We are currently working on putting items onto the store page, so we appreciate your patience.

Our current plan in 2025 is to slowly include more and more of our inventory to our ecommerce page. At the moment, we only have the capacity to do in-store pickup. We are currently testing online ordering for shipping, and hope to have some small-scale shipping solutions soon.

Stay tuned for more developments!

Group Tours and Workshops

Fort Nisqually offers educational programs for all ages and group sizes! Guided tours are offered to groups year-round. An educator in period clothing will teach your group about the history of Fort Nisqually as part of a global fur trade business. Visit our historic buildings where the focus is on daily life of Fort Nisqually’s 19th century employees and their families. Each tour includes hands-on opportunities.

We have education tours for:
  • Young children groups ages 4 to 9
  • Older children groups ages 10-18
  • Multi-age groups
  • Co-op and homeschool groups
  • Adults and work groups
  • Senior groups

Larger groups of 90+ participants will need additional coordination with our education team.

We have youth education workshops, perfect for groups between 8 and 16 children. Workshops include:

  • Children’s Chores– Carry water with a yoke, wash clothes and experience other chores that were part of the day to day life of children.
  • Wool Workshop– Clean and card wool, learn to use a drop spindle and make a wool felt project.
  • Playing in the Past– Make a 19th century toy and play the games and activities that have delighted children for ages.
  • Food and Fire– Help build and start a fire, churn butter and make biscuits on a stick.
  • Light the Night– Make your own candle and learn how they lit the dark in the mid 1800s.

Book your education tour or workshop here!

We also have our Heritage Skills Workshops, which are hands-on learning activities geared towards adults. During the Fall and Winter, we have workshops on:

  • Tinsmithing
  • Leatherworking
  • Basket weaving
  • Cider Making
  • Oyster Shucking
