Klahowya, Saturday, April 25th 2026 11am - 4pm
In 1855, Fort Nisqually was a trading center for folks from all over. They greeted each other in the trade language of the time, Chinook Jargon, by saying “Klahowya” or “welcome”. At our first event of the season, Klahowya, we welcome you to enjoy guided tours of the museum, historic trades demonstrations, and hands-on activities for the whole family. Plant your own seeds to take home, meet a cow and learn about dairy products in the 1850’s, sample food prepared in the museum’s period kitchen, and play Victorian games.
Please note: This event is FREE for all Pierce County residents and Tribal Members
Please provide proof of Pierce County residency or Tribal affiliation (e.g. Washington State ID, utility bill, or Tribal ID) at the entrance to the museum. You do not need to purchase or register for tickets in advance if you are a Pierce County resident or member of an Indigenous/First Nations tribe.
Tickets will also be sold at the door.
A 5% admissions tax will be added to the final sale for all admission tickets sold.
