Klahowya 2024 - THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO JOINED US THIS YEAR!

In 1855, Fort Nisqually was a trading center for people throughout the region and around the world and they greeted each other in the trade language of the time, Chinook Jargon, by saying “Klahowya” or “welcome”. At Klahowya we welcome guests to join in learning from our historical interpreters and enjoying demonstrations of historic trades which may include woodworking and tinsmithing. Guests will have plenty of family friendly and hands-on activities to choose from, including planting your own seeds to take home, assisting in the museum’s gardens, sampling food prepared in the museum’s period kitchen, and playing Victorian games. Klahowya is Free to all Pierce County residents and members of local First Nations. Free tickets will be available at the gate with your ID.
